Starburst and The Presto Foundation

Since the first day I met Presto creators Martin, Dain, and David at Facebook back in 2014, I was convinced that they were building something that would fundamentally change the way people think about analytics.  In fact, for thousands of Presto users around the world, it already has. Facebook has a knack for creating world-class enterprise software, simply as a byproduct of their incredible scale.

As the community has grown, so too have the diversity of use cases that Presto serves, creating a need for different constituencies to come together and be represented. For that reason, Starburst is proud to join Facebook, Uber, and others in The Presto Foundation. This foundation creates a forum for discussion and collaboration for all interested parties through committee meetings and events like PrestoCon, which Starburst is proud to co-sponsor.

[PrestoCon was rescheduled due to COVID-19, a new date will be announced as soon as it is safe to do so]

Justin Borgman

Justin is the co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Starburst. Prior to founding Starburst, Justin was Vice President and General Manager at Teradata (NYSE: TDC), where he was responsible for the company’s portfolio of Hadoop products. Prior to joining Teradata, Justin was co-founder and CEO of Hadapt, the pioneering “SQL-on-Hadoop” company that transformed Hadoop from file system to analytic database accessible to anyone with a BI tool. Hadapt was acquired by Teradata in 2014.
